Implementing a PM2.5/Dust/Particle Detector Using the Ginkgo Adapter

With growing awareness of air quality, more people are now paying attention to the air conditions in their own homes, such as the level of particulate matter or dust concentration. To address this need, we have developed a dust concentration detection system using the GP2Y1050AU0F sensor paired with a Ginkgo adapter. The sensor provides two types of output signals: serial communication and analog voltage. This allows us to utilize both the UART and ADC functions of the Ginkgo platform for accurate dust measurement. Below is the internal function diagram of the sensor:

Additionally, there is a reference table showing the relationship between the analog voltage output and the corresponding dust concentration levels:

By measuring either the analog voltage or the serial data, you can determine the current dust concentration in your environment. Here is an example of the user interface designed for the Ginkgo adapter:

The software simultaneously captures both the analog voltage and the serial data, displaying them as two separate graphs for real-time monitoring. In practical applications, it's recommended to add a low-pass filter when using the analog voltage output to reduce noise and improve accuracy. Without filtering, the measured values may be less reliable. However, if you use the serial port data, this issue is typically avoided. For physical connections, refer to the following diagram:
