The diagram above illustrates an RC clock signal generation circuit, commonly used in TTL-based systems. This design only requires three inverters from a 6-inverter IC, such as the SN7401. The frequency of the clock signal is determined by the RC time constant. For example, with a 200 pF capacitor, the frequency can reach up to 5 MHz, while increasing the capacitance to 1600 pF reduces the frequency to around 1 MHz.
