Potting silicone is a type of material commonly used in the electronics industry for bonding, sealing, potting, and protecting components. Before being applied, it exists as an uncured liquid with fluidity, and its viscosity varies depending on the material, production process, and application requirements. Once fully cured, potting silicone offers excellent properties such as waterproofing, moisture resistance, dust protection, insulation, heat conduction, corrosion resistance, temperature resistance, and shock absorption. There are various types of electronic potting materials available, with the most common being epoxy resin, silicone resin, and polyurethane potting glues. Each of these materials can be further categorized into hundreds of different products based on their specific characteristics and applications.
Features of Potting Silicone
1. It has flame-retardant properties and meets UL94-HB standards.
2. It has low viscosity, good fluidity, and self-discharge properties, making it easy to fill complex electronic components and reach even the smallest details.
3. Components with removable seals can be removed for repair or replacement, and then resealed using this potting material without leaving any visible traces.
4. The compound can be stored for a long time at room temperature but cures quickly when heated, which is beneficial for automated production lines.
5. It does not shrink during curing and offers superior waterproofing, moisture resistance, and anti-aging performance.
6. In addition to its basic potting features, silicone-based compounds also exhibit excellent properties like acid and alkali resistance, weather resistance, insulation, compression resistance, moisture resistance, and impact resistance.
