Illumination of national standards introduced the impact of the LED industry

Illumination of national standards introduced the impact of the LED industry From the China International Semiconductor Lighting Application Technology Forum held in Shanghai on the 11th, it was learned that China's mandatory national lighting safety standards are expected to be introduced next year, and the LED industry will face a large-scale "shuffle." LED is known as the fourth-generation lighting technology, and China's LED industry is experiencing rapid growth.

According to the LEDinside report of LEDinside, a subsidiary of global market research firm TrendForce, “China LED Lighting” in its latest issue, China’s LED lighting market will reach RMB 32.4 billion in 2013, representing an annual growth of 36%, especially in the home lighting market. Has jumped to the application market, second only to commercial lighting.

With LED technology gradually "walking into the homes of ordinary people", the LED industry is about to enter the third growth cycle. Professor Fang Zhilie of Fudan University, which has the reputation of “Leading People” in China’s LED technology, introduced at the forum: The first two growth periods of the LED industry are mainly signal and display applications before 2010; and backlighting from 2010 to 2013. Application-based; 2013, general lighting will become the "main force" of the LED industry.

Yang Weiqiao, assistant director of Shanghai Semiconductor Lighting Engineering Technology Research Center, said that currently, 10% of indoor lighting in China has been replaced by LED lights. Once LED lighting products enter the home field on a large scale, the topic of security will be highlighted. At the beginning of this year, people from all walks of life had heated discussions on the topic of "Blu-ray Spillover." Some people think that long-term use of LED lighting will cause damage to the retina.

In this regard, Prof. Tong Tongsheng, head of the international standards for the safety and technical performance of LED technology, believes that as long as it meets national standards, LED lighting products will not have potential safety hazards.

He also pointed out that in Europe and the United States, lighting products, including LED technology, must meet the international standards issued by the International Commission on Illumination (IEC). Unfortunately, the standard became a "recommendation standard" after it was introduced into the country, leading to worrying performance of some domestic LED products. He believes that strengthening the safety of lighting radiation is conducive to the development of China's lighting industry.

According to Prof. Tong Shengsheng, the new mandatory national lighting safety standards are under development and expected to be introduced next year. By then, the safety performance of all lighting products will be divided into 4 levels, and will be labeled and clearly indicated to consumers. Only Grade 0 and Level 1 are suitable for home use.

The launch of the new "national standard" will undoubtedly make China's LED industry "shuffle." According to Li Yongzhi, manager of the R&D department of the National Semiconductor Lighting Project Shanghai Industrialization Base, the total size of the LED industry continues to expand this year. "But this year's feature is that the space for enterprises without technical characteristics is shrinking, and the number of orders for large companies is expanding." It is believed that with the gradual maturity of LED technology, higher quality products will surely come to the fore and low-end products will be eliminated in the market.
