Recently, I took a Samsung rear-projection TV with a 51-inch screen and opened the casing to check it out. Inside, I noticed that the red tube was leaking. After some cleaning and treatment, everything seemed to work fine at first. But the next day, the power supply stopped working again. I carefully examined the power circuit, and everything looked normal on the surface. So why wasn't there any power? While trying to troubleshoot, I accidentally touched the solder joint of the +B capacitor. When I powered it up again, I suspected a poor solder connection. However, after a short time, the TV turned off once more. I decided to remove the capacitor completely. After checking further, I realized that all the capacitors under the large components were leaking liquid. I replaced them one by one and found the root cause. It took a few days of testing, but eventually, the TV was fully repaired. This kind of issue is not easy to spot, especially for someone who's not an expert. When dealing with electrolytic capacitors that have leaked, it's important to remove them completely from the board. Don’t be afraid of the trouble—reworking can be more complicated if you skip this step. It’s always better to take your time and make sure everything is properly fixed.
