Boeing tests unmanned passenger aircraft next year: handed over to the computer

Electronic enthusiasts eight o'clock: British media said that aircraft manufacturer Boeing has begun to study how to build unmanned passenger aircraft - the earliest will begin testing next year.

According to the British "Sun" website reported on June 12, this amazing development means that the computer will take full control of the aircraft, responsible for making decisions about life and death.

The development plan also marks the next stage of development of driverless technology. Most large automakers, as well as young companies such as Uber and Tesla, are close to launching autonomous models.

Mike Xinnet, Boeing's vice president of future technology, admitted to the Seattle Times reporter that the development plan must meet safety standards.

He said: "From asking the pilot to manipulate the aircraft skillfully to automatically maneuver the aircraft from a system, there is a transition - if we can achieve the same level of safety. We are not smart enough to pre-program the steps for this. This type of aircraft must be able to make the same set of decisions."

However, Zinnet said the basic technology required for drones is mature.

For example, the pilot will transfer the passenger aircraft to cruise mode during long-haul flights. As another example, the pilot can let the plane land automatically.

But accidents like the "Hadson River Miracle" raise questions about whether or not unmanned technology can do the job.

In January 2009, a US Airways passenger plane crashed into the flock of birds after taking off from New York City for a few minutes, and the engines were all turned off.

Hero pilot Chesley Salenberg identified his only choice to be forced to land on the Hudson River.

Within 4 minutes of losing power, he guided the plane to land on the water. All the people on board were safely evacuated and no one was killed.
