VideoMASTER and PXI create wireless HDMI MIMO test system

challenge

Develop a manufacturing test system (MTS) that can test wireless HDMI multiple input multiple output (MIMO) products according to current industry standards and eliminate the need for manual intervention when judging video transmission quality.

solution

Use NI PXI, NI VideoMASTER, NI LabVIEW, and NI TestStand management software to develop an automated system for verifying digital video signal parameters, ranging from channel delay measurement and color verification to synchronization pulse timing, noise spectrum, and nonlinear measurement.

result

Using a common software platform based on NI TestStand software, Benetel has radically shortened the development time of new projects by 75% and made it easier to produce high-quality, highly reliable end products.

Benetel has extensive experience in radio frequency (RF) and wireless design and test systems. We are committed to providing high-quality, high-performance products to customers in all walks of life worldwide. Digital video testing occupies a large part of our business scope and requires flexible, adaptable, and fully upgraded test systems to support some wireless digital video streaming media products.

Our application requires a manufacturing test system (MTS) to test the transmission unit and the reception unit. The transmission unit is based on wireless media, modulated by multiple wireless output channels and multiple input and multiple output configurations of low-rate data output wireless channels, and transmits downstream high-definition video and audio content.

The receiving unit receives wireless high-definition video content, and uses a multiple-input multiple-output configuration of multiple wireless data channels and low-rate channels that generate uplink channels for data content transmission to demodulate the video content and regenerate video, audio, and control information. The output of the receiving unit is digital uncompressed video, digital audio and control information. All outputs are through the HDMI connector.

The software of the manufacturing test system is based on Benetel's universal test platform. It is a powerful and flexible software core based on NI TestStand and LabVIEW. It can actively support applications that require multithreading, database connection, and test fixture control.

The hardware of the manufacturing test system is based on the NI VideoMASTER PXI system. The hardware system consists of the NI PXI-6542 digital video generator and logic instrument module, and also supports various modules, such as the NI PXI-5122 high-speed digital analyzer, NI PXI RF signal generator and NI PXI-8430 serial interface module. We route the signal through a high-quality cable and connect it to a pair of TX (transmit) and RX (receive) protective shields, which is very necessary for air testing based on unit testing.

The UUTs in TX and RX can be tested independently using the manufacturing test system. This parallel test method forms the core part of Benetel's production test strategy and greatly improves the overall throughput. Use the automatic scheduling function in NI's TestStand software to automatically schedule the parallel test execution sequence, improve test operation efficiency, reduce test consumption time, and increase resource utilization.

The manufacturing test system can analyze various wireless video signals with signal resolutions of 720i / p and 1080i / p on any radio frequency, including 5.8 and 60GHz. We have configured many functions for the test system, from recording serial numbers, configuration and software versions to video and audio testing, such as horizontal timing, channel delay, color bars, K-factor, noise spectrum, distortion, and multi-burst testing. The system also includes a high-rate automatic realization of the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) algorithm. We also use this algorithm as an approximation of the human body perception of the image reconstruction quality to verify the quality of the video image in transmission.

The main production requirement for testing wireless and other video signals is the quality inspection of transmitted video and audio. From past experience, video quality verification has always been a subjective science. Using NI VideoMASTER can objectively quantify and measure a large number of peak signal-to-noise ratio digital signal parameters, greatly improving the confidence in achieving video signal quality, while maintaining a high throughput.

In addition to video quality, manufacturing test systems can also measure parameters such as audio quality, received signal strength, and upstream information. These test requirements make full use of the serial interface tools and string processing functions of LabVIEW and NI TestStand software to quickly and reliably analyze the data to and from the UUT.

Advantages of using NI tools

We use a PXI-based system to integrate all modular system requirements into one installation package. Compared with other methods, combining a relatively low development budget PXI driver with the widely used LabVIEW built-in tools and toolboxes can create a cost-effective system. We can also benefit from effective after-sales support from NI. In addition, the NI VideoMASTER PXI-6542 digital video generator can easily interact with the Benetel universal test platform, so that a dedicated test mode can be used, so that we can develop a separate mode that combines all the components together. Or image testing applications are very necessary. By reducing the need to switch between test modes, the number of samples required is reduced. From the perspective of the entire test time, NI's VideoMASTER generator can save a lot of test time.

LED Wall washer :Let the light wash over the wall like water, mainly used for building decoration lighting, but also used to outline the outline of large buildings! Because LED has energy saving, high light efficiency, rich color, long life and other characteristics, so widely used!

Therefore, wall washing lamps of other light sources are gradually replaced by LED wall washing lamps. The technical parameters of LED wall washing lamps are roughly similar to that of LED projection lamps.
