Looking at the development prospects of LED lighting industry from Guangzhou International Lighting Fair

A series of supportive national policy led to the fiery LED lighting industry. June 9, the world's largest lighting exhibition in Guangzhou ended, this year's Guangzhou International Lighting Fair attracted over 2,900 exhibitors, covering more areas of expertise lighting, commercial lighting, LED raw materials, including Philips, Osram, GE , Panasonic and other well-known manufacturers. The reporter learned from the four-day exhibition that the manufacturers are full of confidence in the development of the industry and believe that the civilian sector will be the key to the development of the domestic LED industry in the future. At the same time, the speed of integration of the domestic LED industry is accelerating, and a group of small and medium-sized enterprises will be eliminated in the future. .

500 billion market cake boost high temperatures, rain and other adverse weather conditions did not affect this year's Guangzhou International Lighting Fair popularity, reporters on the scene saw two consecutive days crowded scene. According to data from the exhibition organizers, there are more than 2,900 exhibitors, covering 21 exhibition halls, with a total area of 210,000 square meters, and more than 100,000 spectators entering the venue.

Such a hot scene are derived from the domestic LED industry prospects for the future and which bears the tremendous business opportunities. According to China's "12th Five-Year Plan" for the development of semiconductor lighting technology, by 2015, China's LED lighting industry will reach 500 billion yuan, LED lighting products will account for 30% of general lighting, and 20-30 leading enterprises will be fostered. Twenty state-level industrial bases and 50 "Ten Cities Ten Thousand" pilot cities and demonstration cities have been established to promote China's semiconductor lighting industry into the world's top three. Domestic and foreign manufacturers all want to get a bigger piece from the 500 billion cake.

Data show that in 2011, the overall scale of domestic LED lighting and other application areas was 121 billion yuan, and the overall growth rate reached 34.44%, which is the fastest growing link in the LED industry chain, among which the general lighting growth is the most obvious, and the overall share has reached 25%. . This growth rate will further increase. According to the phase-out incandescent lamp map issued by China last year, the sale and import of incandescent lamps for general lighting of 100 watts and above will be banned on October 1, 2016, and will be banned on October 1, 2016. It is forbidden to sell and import incandescent lamps for general lighting of 15 watts or more. Incandescent lamps will gradually withdraw from the historical stage from this year. The market size formed by replacing existing incandescent lamps will exceed 100 billion yuan. Tang Chao, Marketing Director of Polarstar, believes that LED lighting will usher in new opportunities for development. He expects that "3-5 years will certainly replace traditional lighting."

Price is still the biggest bottleneck. Kimura Kimura, chairman of Matsushita Electric Machinery (Beijing) Co., Ltd., said in an interview with reporters that there is a lot of room for China's LED lighting to develop in an all-round way. Panasonic is therefore also pushing ahead with related businesses in China. He disclosed that compared with the same period of last year, Panasonic’s LED business ratio in China has seen a large increase, especially in areas such as roads, public facilities, etc., and Kimura Jinou expects that Panasonic’s LED lighting market in China will reach 400 in 2015. 100 million yuan.

Not only is Panasonic, the foreign giants that have raised China's business to an important position in its global strategic map, but also Philips. Philips LED lighting project settled in Chengdu last year. It plans to invest 25 million euros in five years to improve its LED value chain in China. Philips Lighting Liang Hanfeng, president of the Greater China Division of the business division, said, “Our goal is to achieve 50% of the total business volume of LED business in 2-15 years.”

However, currently in front of the lighting companies, or promotion to meet the bottleneck, Wang Lianghai, vice president of Tsinghua Tongfang Group believes that in addition to LED photoelectric conversion efficiency needs to be improved, the price is still the biggest bottleneck of LED penetration. The reporter also learned that since last year, the price of upstream LED chip and related supporting materials have been falling, but it is still much higher than ordinary energy-saving lamp products. According to Wang Lianghai, the price difference between LED lights on the market and ordinary energy-saving lamps is more than 5 times.

Industry consolidation accelerates At present, LED lighting applications are more concentrated in the commercial rather than civilian areas. However, the reporter learned from the show that manufacturers generally believe that the civilian sector will be the focus of the future development of the domestic LED industry.

The hope that the industry sees is that the State Council has recently decided to implement policies and measures to promote the consumption of energy-saving home appliances and other products. It has decided to allocate 2.2 billion yuan to support the promotion of energy-saving lamps and LED lighting fixtures. According to Guan Baiyu, Secretary-General of the China Semiconductor Lighting/LED Industry Alliance, the subsidy rules are expected to be introduced at the beginning of the month and early next month. The primary beneficiaries will be those large-scale LED companies with competitiveness. Wang Lianghai estimated that the 2.2 billion subsidy will reduce the price of LED lighting products by 15%-20%.

Tang Chao said that including 2.2 billion subsidies, and Guangdong Province plans to force the replacement of LED lighting in the public sector in the province within three years, and other policies have led the industry as a whole, but he also pointed out that the subsidy policy has certain restrictions, only part Corporate profits will intensify industry competition in the future. Wang Lianghai said that at present, among the nearly 10,000 LED companies, there are only a few well-known brands, but occupy more than 90% of the market share of commercial lighting. The reporter also learned that since the beginning of last year, small and medium-sized LED companies have been closed one after another, and the industry reshuffle has begun.

Dr. Pan Wenbo, director of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co., Ltd., believes that the policy support and LED technology replacement, coupled with price storms, this year, the domestic LED market reshuffle integration speed, the international giants and competing domestic LED companies have become shuffle leader.

The international giants have taken the lead. The reporter learned from Panasonic that Panasonic has taken the residential lighting business as a development center and plans to introduce Japan’s mature products and technologies and lighting solutions business to the Chinese market. According to Kimura Kogo, currently Matsushita has more than 2,200 sales stores and more than 400 specialty stores in the Chinese market, mostly in East China and North China. Panasonic is increasing its efforts in unsaturated markets such as the Northeast, South China, and the West. The goal is to double the number of stores in 2015 to 5,000.”
