2. The latest development of quantum communication: China University of Science and Technology has successfully researched a new type of quantum bit coding. Like modern computers, "quantum chips" are the "brains" of future quantum computers. The research team used the asymmetric characteristics of the polyelectron orbitals of semiconductor quantum dots to realize the new qubits of orbital hybridization in gallium arsenide semiconductor systems for the first time, subtly the ultra-fast characteristics of charge qubits and spin qubits. The long coherence characteristics are combined to achieve the combination of “fish” (ultra-fast control) and “bear paw” (long coherence). The experimental results show that the new qubit is similar to the charge qubit, which can achieve ultra-fast quantum inversion from 0 to 1 in a hundred picoseconds, and its quantum coherence is nearly ten times higher than the general charge-encoded qubit.

The novel multi-electron orbit hybridization has a strong versatility for realizing quantum bit coding and regulation. It is not only applicable to the three-five semiconductors, but also can be extended to four semiconductors such as silicon germanium and even new semiconductors such as graphene and TMDS. At the same time, this work provides a new idea for exploring the effects of polar phonons and piezoelectric effects on the quantum coherence properties in semiconductors.
