Recently, according to reports from foreign media like Engadget, LG is set to unveil the world's largest and highest-resolution OLED display. This development marks a significant step forward in the evolution of high-end display technology.
With 4K resolution and HDR becoming the standard in the market, LG Display has been pushing the boundaries of OLED technology by developing 8K-resolution panels. At this year's CES, they will showcase an 88-inch OLED screen with 8K resolution, which is currently the largest and highest-resolution OLED panel ever made.
Previously, the record for the largest OLED panel was held by a 77-inch 4K model introduced by LG Display. However, this new 88-inch 8K version surpasses it in both size and clarity. LG Display remains the primary supplier for major brands such as LG, Sony, and Panasonic, reinforcing its position in the industry.
While Samsung has shifted its focus toward QLED technology, LG has emerged as the only global manufacturer capable of producing large-size OLED panels. This gives LG a unique edge in the high-end display market.
Despite this, Samsung still dominates the small-size OLED market, particularly due to its supply of panels for the iPhone X. It holds over 60% of the market share in this segment, maintaining its leadership in smaller displays.
This move by LG signals a strong commitment to pushing the limits of OLED technology, positioning itself as a leader in premium display solutions while Samsung continues to hold its ground in the mobile sector.
