ROHM has experimented with a shadowless lamp that uses a lampshade that diffuses light in an organic EL lighting fixture to eliminate shadows, and an organic EL flash lamp that emits light for a short time with a brightness of up to 100,000 cd/m2, and was exhibited at CEATEC JAPAN 2008. The latter can be used as an organic EL lighting fixture having a brightness of 3,000 to 4,000 cd/m2 or more when it is not flashing.
The organic EL flash lamp is made up of six light-emitting modules arranged in a longitudinal direction and eight horizontally arranged in a 40 mm square. Demonstrates multi-level dimming from a darker state to a maximum brightness of several thousand cd/m2. It also demonstrates that the side light button on the light can be illuminated three times with a 100,000 cd/m2 flash. But because it is a reference demo, current and voltage are not announced (the company).
In December 2007, ROHM acquired the relevant technicians, intellectual property and production equipment of IMES, which was previously engaged in the design of organic EL lighting equipment. In May 2008, Lumiotec and other companies established Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Letterpress Printing, and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to develop organic EL lighting business, which showed the company's positive attitude toward practical use of organic EL lighting equipment.
Lumiotec demonstrated the organic EL lighting fixture Phenalene at the booth of Roma. The brightness is 5500 cd/m2. The life expectancy is 10,000 hours.
