Matsushita Electric Works developed a dye-sensitized photoelectric conversion element

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. disclosed a dye-sensitized photoelectric conversion element at a speech at the 89th Spring Annual Meeting of the Japan Chemical Society held at the Japanese University of Chiba Prefecture on March 27-30, 2009. The indoor conversion efficiency is higher than that of crystalline silicon and amorphous silicon solar cells. The company is preparing to use the device as a power source for indoor sensors and LEDs.

The company compared the power generation capabilities of self-developed dye-sensitized solar cells and crystalline silicon and amorphous silicon solar cells under the illumination of 200lx indoor lighting. The dye-sensitized power generation capacity is at most 7.9 μW/cm 2 , which is about 1.2 times that of the amorphous silicon type. In reality, it can be used as a power source (Panasonic Electric Works) of several μW to several mW. The initial price estimate is the same as for amorphous silicon solar cells (the company).

After the sensor, etc., it will also be applied to products that pursue high creativity, such as various colors and translucent solar cells. Almost transparent solar cells with a light transmission rate of up to 78.6% have been produced.
