Comparison of a variety of 2.5-inch mobile hard disk - Seagate Rui Lee 1T mobile hard drive test evaluation

Write before the review:

This time, Auntie Zhang’s testimony was drawn to the opportunity of Seagate’s mobile hard disk drive. Thanks to Zhang Aunt. Before the review, let’s talk about the mobile hard disk. Everyone who uses a computer for a long time will have a large capacity. U disk or mobile hard disk, used to store some important information, or to do a backup. With the increasing number of documents and software, perhaps the capacity of U disk is not enough. The same storage space has a higher unit price, so the advantages of mobile hard disk are reflected in the lower selling price of each storage unit. Has a higher price/performance ratio.

I have been using computers for 15 years (exposure of age), some long-term accumulation of information, backup photos, videos, and so on. Therefore, my demand for mobile hard drives is very urgent and the demand is also huge. I remember 15 years ago, a Patriot 128M U disk I bought 198 yuan, I feel 128M for me to store files and backup papers is more than enough. Nowadays, I already have multiple USB flash drives, about 10 hard drives. Important information even uses double backups, data is priceless, so as to achieve the purpose of double insurance.

Let's talk about Seagate. Last week, I saw news that the company's Seagate factory in Suzhou was closed. A large number of workers were dismissed and they were willing to continue working in nearby Wuxi factories. Seagate looks like the next step is to invest in the Thai factory, facing the domestic high labor costs and plant operating costs seem to be overwhelmed.

Part One: Unpacking

The open box part of my review is still based on simple and bright, after all, mobile hard disk is nothing new. Aunt Zhang is still using SF Express for such digital products!

Seagate 2.5-inch mobile hard drive packaging. On the test page, the introduction is: SEAGATE to Lightweight Portable Portable Hard Disk (1TB). I have seen many places that say Ruipin, Xin Ruipin, but also RuiLi, Ruipin, I think that the straight surface of the aluminum alloy brushed wire is collectively referred to as Ruipin, so I chose to call this product "Core. Lee". Notice that the product can be seen through the window section on the right side of the package. Beside the window, use bubble words to mark "ultra thin". Extremely thin!

There is a description of the front of the product, +200G of cloud storage space. For this 200G, it is unclear to me whether it is only 200G or the capacity of the mobile hard disk itself plus 200G. For the time being, I still prefer the former.

The back of the product introduces the features of this mobile hard disk.

Zoomed in to see the 200G cloud storage space, and there is an activation date limit. It seems that there is only 200G of cloud storage space.

There are many data exchange paths for mobile hard disks, and they can be converted between PCs, cloud space, and mobile phone storage.

Open the box, even found a two-dimensional code posts.

The hard disk is placed in a plastic mold and has a shock-resistant effect.

The accessories are very simple, except for the instructions, which are the mobile hard disk and a Micro USB 3.0 data cable.

Seagate's LOGO! The hard disk surface has the effect of a concave circle. (This is different from Ruipin. Ruipin is a smooth surface.)

The back is black ABS plastic material, the same with the core product.

The label also shows that the HDD hard disk is manufactured in China and assembled in Thailand.

Micro USB 3.0 interface, its practical and common Micro USB cable can connect to the computer, but the transmission speed will be much slower.

Micro USB 3.0 data cable, Micro USB 3.0 interface to connect mobile hard disk, USB 3.0 interface to PC or other devices.

Part II: My Mobile Hard Drive and Thickness Comparison

I said above that I have 10 mobile hard drives. Yes, it may be more than that. But with this Seagate Rayleigh mobile hard drive, I have a total of nine 2.5-inch mobile hard drives. The others are 3.5-inch. Since I used 2.5 inches, I stopped buying 3.5-inch mobile hard drives because the 2.5-inch has the advantage of being light and without external power supply.

This is a comparison of the thicknesses of several mobile hard drives in my hands. As for the size, because they are all 2.5 inches, so the long models are similar. This time, the thinnest Seagate Ruili, I used the red font and the arrow mark. , is the thinnest mobile hard disk on hand, it is worth noting that the bottom of the new core products, is 4T version, the thickness is not necessarily twice that of other 2T, after all, 4T capacity!

From the chart below, the Hitachi Touro Mobile 1T HDD is on the right, which is already sold as ultra-thin, and Seagate Reliance still appears thinner.

Seagate Rui Lee 1T with the new core product 4T contrast!

New Core 4T compared with Toshiba Star One 2T, it seems that the new core product 4T is still superior in thickness.

Seagate Rui 1T compares with the common gel pen, almost.

The third part: My mobile hard disk purchase program and Seagate Ruili dismantling.

Mobile hard disk purchase, I only have one sentence: The only Western Digital data is not selected! Do not blow black, understand the natural understanding of mobile hard drives, because the huge mobile hard disk market, are using 2.5-inch notebook hard drive + external hard disk box program, that is, 2.5-inch notebook hard disk is relatively independent, 2.5-inch mobile The price of hard disk is sometimes lower than the price of directly buying a 2.5-inch bare disk, plus there is a hard disk box provided by one of its own manufacturers. Therefore, some mobile hard disks do not work properly. It is possible to use an external box or directly connect to a PC. It is not necessary that the 2.5-inch mobile hard disk is broken. But what about Western Digital? His home is an all-in-one structure that cannot be split. This is a pit. Once your Western Digital mobile hard drive is broken, unfortunately, it is basically useless. We must pay attention to it because everyone's mobile hard disk can not be used normally, the vast majority of reasons are due to loose interfaces, poor contact, or the interface is damaged due to external forces.

Attached below is my own Western Digital E-disc HDD dismantling. (The hard disk is not bad, I carefully disassembled)

Carefully solve the buckles of the upper and lower covers:

Built-in hard drive! I processed the SN part.

Interface part, PCB board and hard disk PCB as a whole, can not be split.

The following is the dismantling of this Seagate Ruili, because it is a test product, so I tested the transmission speed, the more boldly dismantling, ordinary consumers I suggest not to dismantling, or no warranty, 3 Year warranty is gone! When dismantling, I first put a blow on the hot air vent to soften the double-sided tape, and then we can separate the upper and lower shells.

The aluminum cover can reduce the thickness of the mobile hard disk. Please note that there is a snap connection between the aluminum cover and the plastic bottom case.

Built a Seagate 2.5-inch notebook hard drive.

Hard disks are also wrapped in aluminum foil.

The other side of the hard disk.

This is the notebook hard drive to Micro USB 3.0 interface section.

In fact, it is a small adapter device that is suitable for other 2.5-inch hard disks.

Carefully removed, it can be seen more clearly, sometimes the problem of mobile hard disk is only that the adapter module is broken, not the hard disk is bad. This is why I do not like Western Digital Mobile Hard Drive. (Excluding Western Digital, basically using laptop hard disk + adapter module like Seagate)

Part IV: Comparing the reading speed of the mobile hard disk

Since it is an electronic product for hard disk storage, it is inevitably necessary to compare the speed of data transmission. I selected several of my existing products and conducted a comparative evaluation of transmission data. The copy tool uses the FASTCOPY 2.11 version. The configuration of the computer is also relatively common, is a combination of H77 motherboard + i3 3220+8G memory, of course, USB3.0 interface is a must have, previously compared in different platforms and CPU configuration, USB3.0 speed on high-end computers It will still be faster, so some of the test data does not represent the best performance. It is just a real-life share.

Speed comparison is actually a little use for reference. After all, the new hard disk and the use of a long time, there is a gap in the speed of loading a full hard disk, but the experiment took me a lot of time.

Part 5: Summary

From the entire evaluation can be seen, Seagate Ruili with ultra-thin thickness, the ultimate compact size, good performance, performance in many of my mobile hard disk outstanding, I believe that such a high-value mobile hard drive everyone will like . If I have to say some deficiencies, I think that the ultra-thin design and my dismantling can see the hard drive's ability to resist earthquakes, and its drop-resistance capability is a little lacking, so we need to be cautious about the user and don't break it.
