China's total energy production in 2010 increased by 38.3% over 2005

Today, the National Bureau of Statistics released one of the “Eleventh Five-Year” series of economic and social development achievements: a new development and a new chapter (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”). The report shows that during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, China’s large-scale imports of resources and energy products have continued to expand. The import volume of iron ore and its concentrates and crude oil was 61.863 million tons and 239.31 million tons respectively, which was 1.2 times and 0.9 times higher than 2005 respectively.

During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, China's energy production capacity has steadily increased. In 2010, China’s total energy production reached 2.99 billion tons of standard coal, an increase of 38.3% over 2005 and an average annual increase of 6.7%. Among the major energy sources, raw coal output in 2010 was 3.24 billion tons, an increase of 37.9% over 2005, with an average annual growth of 6.6%; crude oil production was 203 million tons, an increase of 11.9% over 2005, and the average annual growth was 2.3%; natural gas production was 96.76 billion cubic meters. Rice, an increase of 96.2% over 2005, an average annual increase of 14.4%; power generation capacity of 426.5 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 68.2% over 2005, an average annual growth of 11.0%.
