Based on Maxim's MAX16836 multi-bright LED driver design

Maxim's MAX16836 is a current regulator that operates from 6.5V to 40V and can drive one or more strings of high-brightness LEDs (HBLEDs) with a total current of 350mA. This article will mainly introduce the main features of the MAX16836, functional block diagrams, and PWM dimming multiple HB Led Driver circuits.

The main features of the MAX16836 are as follows:

2. Functional block diagram of the MAX16836

          The functional block diagram of the MAX16836 is shown in Figure 1. It consists of an enable module, a reference signal generator, a voltage regulator, a thermal shutdown, a differential sense amplification, and a current regulation module.

Three. MAX16836 application circuit diagram

        The LED current of the MAX16836 is adjustable from 35mA to 350mA with an LED current accuracy of ±3.5%. The high-voltage DIM pin is used for the dimming interface. The parallel operation can make the LED current greater than 350mA, the differential LED current detection, and the shutdown current is 35uA. A typical PWM dimming multi-HB LED driver circuit application diagram is shown in Figure 2:

          Summary

Maxim's MAX16836 is primarily used in automotive interior lighting, automotive exterior lighting, ambulance warning lighting, navigation and marine lights, and general lighting, as well as multiple HB LED driver circuits for LCD backlighting.
