Zarlink today introduced a new terrestrial digital TV demodulator for PC-TV, portable and handheld digital TV receiver design. With the industry's smallest package, the lowest power and lowest software overhead, and the wide temperature range, the ZLÔ10355 is ideal for mobile DTV applications. The demodulator is fully compliant with the demanding NorDig Unified 1.0.2 standard.While most people are still receiving television signals via cable or satellite, the ground or "line of sight" transmission market is booming as consumers begin to watch TV on their personal computers, in cars, and even on mobile phones. The ZL10355 chip is pin and functional compatible with the recently introduced ZL10353 device, featuring the industry's lowest NorDig Unified standard operating and standby power consumption, and the fastest DVB-T (terrestrial digital video broadcasting) "blind and automatic recapture" "Features. The package size is only 7 × 7 mm (mm) - half the industry standard printed circuit board area.

Zarlink's demodulator features a very fast "blind sweep and automatic recapture" function that automatically scans the entire broadcast band using a hardware-based state machine, much faster than software-based channel scan algorithms.
