Power Integrations introduces an ultra-small power product reference design kit (RDK-131). It helps engineers design high-efficiency LED power supplies to replace energy-consuming incandescent lamps. The kit also gives designers a power supply circuit that fits into an LED bulb socket and ensures LED bulb power for replacing incandescent lamps. The product meets the requirements of electromagnetic compatibility standards.
Unlike incandescent lamps, which can be powered directly from the grid, each LED bulb requires a power supply built into its screw (E27) or bayonet (GU10) socket.

Because the thermal effects of power generation account for 40% of the total global greenhouse gas emissions, relevant regulatory agencies and governments around the world are looking for ways to reduce energy consumption. In sharp contrast to incandescent lamps, LED bulbs consume only one-third of the electricity consumed by incandescent lamps and have a longer life.
