At the time of my entanglement, JD.com started the 11.11 monitor full-down activity, and another product U2713H that I was concerned about also had spot sales. Although it was an old product that had been launched for several years, but performance parameters and 2716D are also difficult to separate. So the brain heats up and orders first. . .

First, highlights, dark spots, color points and other types of defective pixels I carefully found 20 minutes basically did not find, the color performance is also very bright, although there is a wide color gamut panel red and green overflow problems, but this will be a lot of color correction improve.

The one that satisfied me most was the excellent performance of light leakage. It was the most perfect DELL monitor used or touched before!

Here I would like to say the next method I tested for light leakage: try to remove the other light sources in the dark room, and locate the screen at the horizontal center of the monitor.

If you shoot the camera, set the aperture f/4.0, ISO 100. The shutter speed is set to 1/3, 0.6, and 1S. The output of the picture can be basically similar to the normal brightness and maximum brightness during actual viewing.

As for the photos taken by many people using mobile phones, they personally think that there is no practical significance, because the brightness and contrast of mobile phones are controlled automatically, and the kind of light leakage diagrams that are exaggerated are not indicative of anything.

The pure white performance is also satisfactory for the neighbors, and the visual uniformity is very good. There is no yin and yang screen phenomenon.

This kind of performance I really can not have the idea of ​​return.

However, after all, the old product a few years ago, the shape does not use the current popular elements such as the narrow border, and U2415 put together some old style dragons do not match. .

With a few days of new problems appeared, I used the video card is MSI GTX760, display interface 2 groups DVI, a DP, a HDMI. DVI cabling has been abandoned due to the fact that cables are too thick and too hard. Just U2713 with DP In and Out two interfaces, this intend to use the DP1.2 specification daisy-chain function to connect the two monitors, but found that as long as open the display DP1.2 function, it will become very unstable. Regular boot black screen and even host boot error, after closing everything is normal, it seems that the compatibility of this new feature also requires the slow running of the manufacturer. The use of DP to connect the main display, HDMI connection sub-display is also a problem, often boot screen inexplicably disappeared, resulting in the result is that every time you enter the BIOS settings have to look at luck, get stuck is a black screen. . .

So tangled repeatedly for the video card, just to see the new GTX960 970 is a lot of three DP interface, just in line with my needs, even if the expansion of the three screens in the future there is no problem.

Since the main purpose is 2D image processing, basic 3D performance does not need to be considered. When purchasing, it actually does not do much homework. It is decided that the GTX960 will look like a blocky appearance and a YY appearance.

The metal back plate is very good. . . . At the very least, dust cleaning is much easier.

The display output interface is very much in line with my needs.

The biggest reason to choose this is to take a look at this good or even slightly exaggerated cooling system.

Compared with the previous GTX760, there are narrow points, long points, and more fans. Performance is said to be similar. . .

The length is really long, but fortunately my chassis hard disk design has left a mounting margin for the long graphics card, otherwise it is very likely that it won't fit in. .

With the exaggerated cooling system, this GTX960 also has a fan start and stop function, when the load is not large, the fan will stop, while the two small lights on the left and right are illuminated. The luck was good. GPU-Z looked at the higher value of the lower leakage rate and was satisfied with it. However, the effect of this value was not understood.

As for the 3D MARK and the like, I was too lazy to test it. . . 3D performance has nothing to do with me. .

There may be a friend who is going to comment on me. In fact, it can be satisfied by verifying that the GTX950 has already had excess performance. Why should we go up to 960 to waste it? In my opinion, in fact, when it comes to interests and hobbies, it cannot be measured in terms of cost-effectiveness alone. The pursuit of perfection is also the motivation and satisfaction of life.

By the way, insert a digression. . Then we learned that the GTX960 video memory cast into 128bit and then started a GTX970 plug wife computer to play the game. .

By the way, the DP line has also been updated. Since I want to use dual display, the secondary display cable needs to be looped under the table and the bracket. The length needs to be 3-4 meters. Relative to HDMI many high-end brand products, 3 meters above the DP range of choice for a lot less, first bought an XX brand of 3 meters of domestic lines, the result was often a black screen splash. After the display and output are settled, it is naturally necessary to consider the issue of color management, even if the equipment has to be loaded!

This instrument is really quite expensive, so I used to either use the unit or simply rent one. But this time my monitor video card has changed, take this opportunity to start a calculation.

The commonly used common color correction instrument is mainly divided into two categories: photometer and colorimeter. The specific working principle will not say more, friends who are interested can Baidu.

The biggest difference for our average user is that the photometer is widely applicable. Whether it is a wide color gamut or a general color gamut display panel, it can be applied. Besides the display device, the color output of the print output device can also be calibrated, but the price is at least 3,000. Yuan started, and the color correction was not accurate under low light conditions.

The colorimeter entry-level products are relatively inexpensive, but they can only be compared by the currently known display light-emitting characteristics. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the type of display backlight of the display before color correction. And the colorimeter is theoretically unable to calibrate the wide color gamut panel.

However, if the D Series supports PremierColor technology U series display is a lot easier, with the use of DELL dedicated Dell UltraSharp Calibration Solution correction software can use the specified model of color correction instrument for school color, and the minimum support standard is The colorimeter's X-Rite i1 Display Pro is relatively inexpensive, and other manufacturers such as HP's color management function similar to the specified color management instrument is also this model, and from the perspective of color correction function, this product also has a good performance , so my purchase goal is also very clear.

This product is a popular product, so even if 11.11 has no discount, before the full reduction of the coupon is also exhausted, had no choice but to purchase at the same price.

The overall work is still good

Because PremierColor uses the internal hardware of the monitor and the color correction instrument to complete the color correction work, the connection of the color correction instrument must be completed according to the procedure. Otherwise, it cannot be identified.

The color correction process is actually not complicated, and it can be done step by step according to the procedure prompts.

Because the DP interface is used in the display parameter control, the ADC mode can be directly selected in the program after the factory settings are initialized. After that, the color monitor can directly control the display brightness, contrast, and RGB three-color parameter settings according to the actual situation. Compared to the previous manual button adjustment is much easier.

After the color calibration is completed, you can see that the brightness and contrast have been adjusted to the proper position, and the color output has also been switched to “custom color”. The red, green, and blue colors have also been automatically adjusted.

After the color correction U2713H's overall color is much softer than before, red and green overflow phenomenon has also been greatly improved.

The average value of the color ΔE product also performed well

According to the common sense story, this should be over, but after a few days of experience, I doubted the suitability of this dream product. It also counts as a deeper understanding of the seemingly high-end nature of the "wide color gamut."

In fact, at the beginning of my purchase, wishful thinking that "the wide color gamut" is synonymous with high-end, but did not combine their actual needs to in-depth understanding.

Results In actual use, it was found that the bright color of the wide color gamut display is based on the high backlight brightness. In a few days, the eyes are obviously sour and uncomfortable. After manually reducing the brightness of the display, the eyes obviously feel more comfortable, but the color of the monitor obviously begins to appear. Deteriorating, there is a kind of gray feeling.

U2713H is using GB-LED backlight, which can increase the color gamut coverage, enhance the color performance, but it will also reduce the performance of pure white field, the phenomenon is that in any case the color of pure white will show a blue color, It's fine for general use, but when dealing with pictures of meals served on white porcelain plates, the white balance adjustment is very unpleasant. . . . .

And I use U2713H's repaired pictures. Obvious overshoot and inaccurate colors are found on other devices. The reason is very simple. Most other people use display devices that are not wide color gamut products, and many picture browsing softwares. And almost all web browsers use sRGB as the color standard. U2713H proud of AdobeRGB color gamut coverage, but after such a conversion performance worse. . . .

Therefore, in the end after a few days of use, the decision to use U2713H as the main monitor was eventually abandoned. However, due to the overall quality of this product, it is not willing to return the product. Abandoning the U2713H and then selecting a monitor becomes a matter of urgency. This time, the selection criteria are very pragmatic. The 27-inch is still the main indicator. This time, for the sake of color consistency, the sub-displays are also replaced with the U2515H of the same series. Although there is no "wide color gamut" attribute of the ring, but sRGB 99% color gamut coverage is also more practical, and the average ΔE is less than 3 is also an accurate color performance.

Here to explain the concept of ΔE: color gamut is the display device can show how much the color of the index, ΔE is to display the device color accuracy of various indicators, the lower the average product value, the higher the accuracy, and the use of the color gamut the ultimate purpose That is, the value of ΔE is reduced as much as possible by the calibration operation, and the vividness of the color expression cannot be improved.

Some people may think that most people's monitors have not been color-corrected, and their accuracy is no use even if they are accurate. I personally think this differs from the previous concept of “wide color gamut”. Although there are different standards for the definition of standard colors, they are relatively uniform and there is no loss of compatibility or standard conversion. Therefore, there is no harm in the pursuit of accurate color performance, and it is also beneficial to develop more accurate color perception capabilities. As for other viewers, the color is not allowed. In fact, you don't need to worry too much. You can't go to meet the difference in color accuracy. Therefore, it is better to try to approach the accepted standard color.

Fortunately, the double 11 is not over yet, the monitor still has special price, but the logistics speed has obviously slowed down, and waited for 3 days before sending it to me.

However, there is still some problem in the uniform color of the white field. The U2515H is always warmer and redder than the U2715H. After the color correction, it cannot be eradicated. This is estimated to be due to the difference in pixel density resulting in different aperture ratios. (In the figure, the unevenness of the white field is caused by the shooting angle. Actually, the performance of these two products is very good and there is no yin and yang screen phenomenon.)

The mean value of the color ΔE after the two colors have been calibrated is also excellent, even exceeding the previous U2713H.

Due to the use of an ordinary white LED backlight, although the coverage of the color gamut is reduced, the white display is more pure and white balance is no longer annoying. And because there is no need to maintain high brightness, the eyes are much more comfortable.

In fact, there is no uniform standard for what is a "wide color gamut." At present, Adobe RGB color gamut coverage of more than 90% is generally considered to be attributed to a wide color gamut. If it is pure entertainment, the bright colors of the wide color gamut display will be more eye-pleasing in video and games. However, if there is a compatibility issue as a later revision, Adobe does not have any problems with the professional software, but many other graphics software can only support the sRGB mode. And if the web publishing is viewed through the browser, then basically all of it is converted to sRGB mode. The converted image effect is not even as good as the sRGB mode display. The general equipment such as printout also only support the sRGB mode, and the cost of color correction is quite large if the wide color gamut standard is used to print out.

So unless you're sure you know what to do, but also make sure that you and your audience or printing device can support AdobeRGB color gamut all the time, otherwise it is recommended that consumers generally use the retouching purpose or not to consider "wide color gamut display "This seemingly high-end product.
